Ian Burk

Ian is a professional musician and a university academic and has served on the Board of the ABCI since 2010. Among other things, he studied Choral Conducting at the Royal College of Music London and has had considerable experience as a trainer and conductor of boys’, girls’, and mixed choirs both in church and secular spheres. His role on the Board has been that of an independent director with a focus on promoting the organisation and its aims, supporting the implementation of proper and professional procedures and practices, advising on musical matters, and raising its public profile. He has been the music producer for three of the ABCI’s recordings, and as a member of the Board, has been actively involved in the bench marking of staff salaries and in the implementation of the highly successful choral composition competition which was run in conjunction with the 75th anniversary celebrations.

He is currently Senior Lecturer in Music and Course Coordinator at the Australian Catholic University.
