1998, 2000, 2002 AMERICAFEST TOURS

AmericaFest was a ten day festival that brought together choirs of boys and men from all over the world. Held in Minnesota biannually from 1994 until 2002, the Australian Boys Choir and The Vocal Consort were fortunate to be invited to represent Australia at the 1998, 2000 and 2002 AmericaFests.

Evelyn Douglas, carer on the 1998 tour, commented, “the purpose of AmericaFest was to make great music and good friends, and have some fun. We all worked very hard on those three aspects to the detriment of our sleep allocation.”

The ABC and TVC followed each AmericaFest with a tour of the USA and/or Canada, ending in Los Angeles to visit Universal Studios before the long flight home. After the 2000 tour, chorister Stuart Burns, commented, “an experience like this may only happen once in a lifetime – I have been very lucky to enjoy it twice!”
