BOOK AN AUDITION

The ABCI is currently auditioning new singers for it's next Probationer intake in July 2021. The Choir operates out of its base in Melbourne.

Auditions are conducted in small groups of 4-5 candidates by Nick Dinopoulos, Artistic Director and Naomi Heyden, Director of Training Choirs.

How old do boys have to be?
These auditions are for boys aged between 7 and 9½ (grades 2-3) as at 1 July 2021.

What will the audition involve?
Auditions are informal and no preparation is required. We facilitate a number of fun activities around beat, rhythm, pitch matching and concentration. Boys also will read a short story (or describe a simple picture) to establish their language skills – vital for singers who read music!

Our staff gently encourage boys to try these activities. Families will be sent further information about the Choir and its training program prior to their son’s audition, which should answer any questions you may have.

Please contact our friendly staff should you have any further questions.

Child safety
The ABCI is committed to maintaining a strong culture of Child Safety and takes the safety of our those in our community very seriously. Child Safety policies at the ABCI have been developed alongside external consultants, and our Child Safety officer is a current parent with more than 25 years’ experience as a clinical nurse. All activities at Choir (including auditions, rehearsals and residential programs) are conducted in accordance with our safety procedures, including our COVID safety plan.
