Cooper, when did you join the ABCI?
Officially, I joined the ABCI when I was 8 in 2019.
What do you enjoy most about coming to Choir?
The things I enjoy most about coming to Choir is to be with my friends and singing great songs.
How is choir different from school?
For me, the difference is the community as we are all like-minded people, working towards the same goal.
What are you most looking forward to about the Choir’s upcoming tour to New Zealand?
I am looking forward to discovering the country (since I've never been) and sharing our music.
What's rewarding about singing in a choir?
Definitely performing and going on tours.
What have been some favourite pieces you have performed with the ABCI?
My favourite pieces would be 'For the beauty of the Earth' and the 'Hymn to St. Cecilia' by Britten that we recently performed.
Can you tell us a bit about your hobbies and activities outside singing?
As well as hanging out with friends, I'm passionate about AFL (as I play in a club) and I have recently joined a water polo team.
What do you hope to do with your singing after you move on from the Performing Squad?
I hope to continue my singing in Kelly Gang and later on maybe The Vocal Consort as well.
What is the most important thing you’ve learnt in the ABCI about being a singer?
Commitment and discipline.
Lastly, what advice do you have for boys hoping to make it to the rank of Senior Singer?
To never give up, even if you're stuck on certain skills. And to continue working hard and believe that you're going to make it.
