LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED

Tim Matthews-Staindl is a rare, living example of virtually the full gamut of the ABCI. His career with the Institute has been long, varied and illustrious.

Commencing his probationer training in 1999, this innate musician progressed quickly to qualify for the rank of Senior Singer in 2001.

Becoming the first Head Chorister in 10 years was a significant event in 2004, both personally and for the Institute at large. Awarded to a boy who displayed exemplary leadership, the rank had almost been erased from living memory. Tim rose to the mark, accepting his brief to continue striving for and inspiring excellence.

A decade of touring is another distinguishing aspect of Tim’s career: three Choir tours (Americafest 2002, Canberra 2003, Indonesia 2005); two Kelly Gang tours (Brisbane 2008 for the Pemulwuy Festival, Perth 2009); and two tours with The Vocal Consort, including the 2013 Malaysian tour.

Beyond VCE studies, and building upon the foundation afforded by the Institute’s training program, Tim studied music at the Melbourne Conservatorium, graduating in 2013. During this period, he was a dedicated and caring member of the teaching staff, teaching across each of the choir’s training levels and passionately re-investing into the choir what he himself had been given.

Tim begins a new phase of his life in 2014 as he begins Postgraduate studies in Law at The University of Melbourne.
