BEHIND THE DECADES
The Australian Boys Choir was founded in October 1939 and has pursued excellence for over eight decades.
In 2014, a dedicated team of volunteers and staff worked for over a year to design an exhibition and program to commemorate the Australian Boys Choir 75th year. That team devoted hundreds of hours to the design of an exhibition design and program, celebrating the choirs' history as Australia's 'first and finest' boys' choir.

How times and technology have changed. Current choir members may not know what a “record” is, nor recognise the terms “vinyl” or “LP”. Even their parents may not have heard the terms “shellac” or “78”.
In October 1998, the Academy Award Nominated film Elizabeth was released much to the excitement of the Australian Boys Choir boys. Only four months earlier a small group of the boys had been asked to learn and record some music for the soundtrack.
